“If you worry, you don’t have to worry. If you don’t worry, you need to worry. Because if you worry, you’ll
take care of the things that you are worrying about to the best possible way. If you don’t worry, and you
just go headlong into these things, you’re gonna have a real problem” (Ray Dalio). But what must you
worry about?
The things we must worry about, must have an impact when solved.
You should worry on two levels: as a society, and as an individual.
On the society level, we must worry about national, provincial and community issues. These are the issues
that we vote for as a society.
On the individual level we must worry about he issues that will impact us when the national, provincial and
community issues are not solved to the benefit of society and thus the individual.
We must worry about taking care of ourselves.
At society level, worry about the future. What to worry about? Surround yourself with people that can
help you recognise the things you must worry about.
These people are typically not in your existing circle and industry and as such have no interest in your
business, other than helping you and you helping them in a similar way, as a mini society of Business
Owners.
And that’s the best interest you can want.
In your capacity as an individual, father, husband, friend, etc., worry about the future. What to worry
about? What are the things that can impact you and your livelihood in the future. As in the case at society
level, surround yourself with people that can help you recognise the things you must worry about. You
must worry about business, and your own business, and how it will impact you individually.
To know more specifically what you must worry about, identify what could happen should the desired
impacts at society- and individual not happen.
Once you have that picture, of the undesired impact at society- and individual, you must worry about what
you can do at both levels to impact the desired outcomes, and to potentially deal with the alternative.
Worry about those undesired alternatives.
We are at a time in writing our history where democracy is moving closer to dictatorship even if it’s at a
benign level (winner-takes-all), and we have the responsibility and power to write the history for the
benefit of society and individuals.
Let’s worry about what we must worry about, and not alone, together.
We’ve learned that usually the people to surround yourself with at both levels, are the same people, a mini
society of Business Owners.
