Louna Pretorius
Louna Pretorius
I’m a Capetonian at heart, raised in the beautiful winelands and still deeply appreciative of this place I call home, where natural beauty meets good wine and great people.
My professional journey has been anything but linear, and that’s exactly how I designed it. With an honours degree in Political Science, a Master’s in Business, and advanced executive programmes from Harvard and Sirdar Directorship under my belt, plus a certification in life coaching – I’ve built a career grounded in both strategic thinking and human insight. I’ve also consistently invested in learning through executive management and strategy-focused courses and conferences.
My career began in the government service during the transformative years of South Africa’s post-1994 government, followed by over a decade in the textile manufacturing industry, supplying major SA retailers. From there, I spent nearly ten years immersed in retail and e-commerce before transitioning into business consulting and life coaching over the past six years.
Along the way, I’ve deliberately taken on a variety of management roles in human resources, sales and marketing, operations, planning & buying, content creation, warehouse & distribution and technical infrastructure management, leading to executive positions of GM and CEO. Each position giving me a deeper, more rounded understanding of what it takes to run and grow a successful business.
I’ve worked across government, privately-owned, listed, and start-up sectors, and I’ve travelled across Europe and the US to gain first-hand experience in global business thinking. No matter the context, my approach remains rooted in purpose, integrity, and the belief that people are at the heart of every business.
With my unique blend of experience, in partnership with The Alternative Board (TAB), I help leaders and entrepreneurs think strategically, implement practically, and grow with intention. My goal is to make a meaningful difference in people’s businesses and lives, bringing clarity, structure, and purpose to everything I do.
And yes, when I’m not doing that, I’m likely enjoying a glass of good wine and reflecting on how to make the next big idea work even better.
As Howard Thurman once said:
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
