I have a particular interest in why some Business Owners succeed and others don’t, whatever their definition of success. The answer lies in how strong our desire is for success and our skillset, mindset & activity – the plans we have. It applies to life in general as well. Plans and planning require constant decision making, and that is a challenge.
My daughters (aged 22 and 25) are money savvy. From a young age they have been taught the value of money and how our decisions directly impact what we have in the bank and what we want.
They do a cashflow forecast every month, for a 24-month rolling period. This however does not mean they both do the same things.
A cashflow forecast is a plan, and a decision-making tool. It shows when you can do and get things and how your short-term decisions impact those things.
It doesn’t show you that you cannot… It shows you when. It shows you what you need to do. It calls you to action. It also shows you how others are in fact involved in your life and plans.
I’m quoting from “Think and Grow Rich”, by Napoleon Hill.
“FIRST. You are engaged in an undertaking of major importance to you. To be sure of success, you must have plans which are faultless.
SECOND. You must have the advantage of the experience, education, native ability, and imagination of other minds…
No individual has sufficient experience, education native ability, and knowledge to insure the accumulation of a great fortune, without the cooperation of other people. Every plan you adopt… should be a joined creation of yourself and every other member of your “Master Mind” group. You may originate your own plans either in whole or in part, but see that those plans are checked, and approved by the members of your “Master Mind” alliance.
If the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan, if this new plan fails to work, replace it, and son on, until you find a plan which does work.
Right here is the point at which the majority of men meet with failure, because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail.”
“The most intelligent man living cannot succeed… without plans which are practical and workable.”
Without a plan, you settle for what you get. You are a passenger in your own life.
