I am one of those people that don’t take anything personal; I had to learn not to. It didn’t come naturally, and it was difficult to unlearn taking things personally. We need more “backboned” people, but there is a difference between decisive and rude. Not all people, Business Owners & Leaders included, have reasonable EQ. Real leaders don’t demand to be heard, and they certainly don’t bully people.
People in general believe that they are right – no matter the subject they get involved in. This could also be called ignorance. There is no truth; only what we believe to be true for us. And what is a belief? What we believe, is the truth for us, but it is not THE truth.
The challenge is that we behave based on what we believe.
A belief is a neural pattern in the brain. It is a group of cells that have been connected and then reinforced.
Think about a baby. We enter this life with zero knowledge and zero beliefs. And then life happens. For what we normally describe as a healthy baby, certain things are hardwired – learning to sit, crawl, stand up, walk, and talk.
Then we are influenced by what and who we are surrounded by. We are influenced by what we are told, what we experience, what we see, read, and listen to.
We are told and taught that we must be better than the rest. But we are not told and taught what that means.
Being a Business Owner & Leader does not mean you are the best. Being number one in your industry does not make you the best. Hammering and forcing down authority does not make you the best.
We will always leave a mark when we interact with people. Always. Take a delicate wine glass. Rub your hands as dry as you can. Now gently lift the glass and put it down.
Your fingerprint is left behind.
You decide on the mark left behind. You can grab the glass, and leave a smudge, and you can grab the glass and crush it.
You, and only you decide on the mark you leave behind, not the glass.
When you get on your high horse, you leave a mark. That mark says everything about you, and nothing about the other person.
Similarly, your business also leaves a mark.
Need or want to change the mark you leave? Let me buy you a coffee.
